OMBRE ZION est né à Pikine dans la banlieue dakaroise. Il a grandit dans un environnement de mélomanes qui écoutaient beaucoup le REGGAE d’ou ses premières influences. Très tôt attiré par le RAGGA MUFFING, il a commencé a reprendre les hits jamaïcains de cet époque et s’est rapidement initié en chants et toasts.
OMBRE ZION débute la première partie de sa vie artistique au collège avec deux amis Jah Man et Tékan avec qui partageaient la même passion. Ils formèrent le groupe SUPREME KADU MAGG (SKM) en 1994.
Il entame sa carrière solo et fait ses premiers galons au niveau de la scène à partir de 2005. Son style particulier lui a valu de nombreux featurings. Il a participé à de multiples projets nationaux et internationaux dont :
• Compilation Sénéragga produit par le studio Sankara de Didier AWADI (Sénégal) ;
• Compilation Dancehall Airlines produit par DJ Tarzan et Mani2 avec la participation de Capleton, Tiken Jah Fakoly, entre autres (France);
• Compilation avec le Silly walk sound system (Allemagne) ;
• Mixtape produite par Philippe Croll (Norvège) ;
• Compilation Love medley produit par Pierre Corron (Norvège ) ;
• Mixtape produite par MCZ ( France )avec des artistes tels que Sizzla, Tarrus Riley, Mister Vegas entres autres ;
• Featuring au Sénégal avec presque toute la crème du Hip Hop au Sénégal Thieuf, Gaston, Keur Gui, Justice, Alien Zik, Bathaillons Blindé, PPS,Simon & Awadi, Xuman-Djily Bagdad-Thiat…
• Compilation New ERA produite par 2H Music
En 2010, il participa à l’atelier Mandinka Groove du festival Banlieue Rythme de Guédiawaye qui sera présenté au festival Festival Pirineos Sur de Huesca en Espagne.
Aujourd’hui Ombré Zion, accompagné du Fagasu Band, joue pratiquement dans les grands spectacles à Dakar et un peu partout au Sénégal. Sa participation à la troisième édition du Festival Mondial des Arts Nègres (FESMAN 3) lui a valu une très grande reconnaissance sur le plan national et africain.
En 2012 Ombre Zion participe au Festival Africa Fete de Mamadou Konté et au concert Découvertes de l’Institut Français Léopold sédar SENGHOR ex CCF de Dakar organisé par le label Zenith production. On peut noter aussi sa participation très remarquée au BEMA SALAM MUSIC EXPO à la Maison de la culture Douta SECK.
Il participe également au Djolof Reggae Festival, le 11 mai 2013 au Grand Théâtre de Dakar.
En 2014, il est accueilli par le Festival des vieilles Pirogues à Saly.
Aujourd’hui, OMBRE ZION prépare un street album prévu dans le courant de 2014. Mais en attendant on se régale de son premier single extrait du street tape « RUDE BOY INNA CAPITAL » qui est en rotation forte dans toutes les stations radios et télévisions sénégalaises.
Ombre Zion was born in the Pikine suburbs of Senegal.
He grew up in an environment of music lovers who listened to Reggae and he was greatly influenced by the music. Early on being attracted by Ragga Muffing, he began taking current Jamaican hits and quickly initiated them in songs and toasts.
Ombre Zion began the first part of his artistic life with two college friends Jah Man and Tekan who also shared the same passion. They formed the group Supreme Kadu Magg (SKM) in 1994.
From 2005, his solo career acquired him a well deserved reputation. His particular style and sound earned him numerous guest appearances with some of the most famous rappers in Sénégal. His success allowed him to participated in many national and international projects (MCZ and perform with many great Jamaican artists like: Tarrus Riley, Romain Virgo, Sizzla, etc.)
Ombre Zion’s participation in the third edition of the World Festival of Black Arts and Cultures (FESMAN 3) hosted in Africa, earned him great recognition nationally and internationally. In 2010 he participated in Mandinka Groove at the Banlieue (Surburban) Rythym Festival in Guédiawaye and the Pireneos Sure Festival in Spain.
In 2012, his performance was outstanding in the Africa Fete Festival of Mamadou Konte. Also in 2012, he participated in the Leopold Sedar Senghor Linguistics Institute Discovery Concert.
During 2013, shows were performed at the BEMA Salam Music Expo Festival, and the Djolof Reggae Festival at the Grand Theatre of Dakar.
2014 he played at the Vieilles pirogues Festival in Saly (Mbour).
Today Ombre Zion and the professional musicians of the Fagasu Band perform in many prestigious clubs and festivals not only in Dakar but also throughout Sénégal.
Ombre Zion is currently in the studio working on his first album. It’s release is expected in December 2014.
